Top 5 Star QB Gunner Kiel commits to LSU

ESPNU 150 Quarterback Gunner Kiel verbally commited to LSU today. After receiving a less than warm reception from Notre Dame fans and alums along with not being impressed with University of Indiana's record are rumored to be among reasons for Kiel's decision, according to reports.

Indiana had focused on Kiel as their number one recruit and had planned to rebuild their program around the quarterback.

Kiel is the 2nd ranked high school quarterback in the nation according to ESPNU top 150 recruits. According to ESPN, Kiel's visit to LSU the week of the Arkansas game made quite an impression on him, "When I went to Louisiana, it was just awesome," Kiel told the website MyIndianaFootball.com. "Friday I woke up and told my parents 'I'm ready to commit. I want to go to LSU and this is the best place for me."

It would appear that Gunner Kiel decided that winning was more important than staying close to home and attending Indiana or Notre Dame. I think I speak for the Tiger Nation when I say, Gunner Kiel, you have chosen wisely.

Geaux Tigers!
