Uncle Edwin is Free At Last!

I wonder if Bobby Jindal is a little jealous that he isn't the most popular Governor in Louisiana right now-I doubt it, Bobby is always happier outside of Louisiana anyway, where he seems to spend most of his time.

Finally Edwin Washington Edwards, Louisiana's only four-time governor has been released from the confines of the state. No more probationary period of house-arrest for Uncle Edwin. It'll be fun to see how the Governor has things plans out for the not to far away future.

As it stands he is about to get married for the third time as well as the possibility of a reality TV show. Word spread through the Twitterverse today that Governor Edward's first stop was Cracker Barrel once he signed the papers alleviating him from his obligatory house arrest following his prison release a few months ago.

I can remember writing Governor Edwards while he was in Dallas at the Federal prison facility there and then in Oakdale, Louisiana while I was going to college. The great thing was that he always wrote back. A few times I sent him books I was reading or had read as well as a few books he had asked for during our correspondence.

Although some people thought it was ridiculous, I still kept him in my prayers along with family, friends, and other of our nation and State's leaders as well as putting him on the prayer list at church. While we all reap what we sow, the 10 year sentence given Edwards in his old age by Judge Frank Polazola was not only politically motivated but harsh. It always troubled me that Governor Edwards my die while in prison, despite all he has done for the state and the people of Louisiana.

We are glad you are back and glad you are free Uncle Edwin. God bless and keep you sir, cause you will always be une de nous autres!

Thought I would include a little homage to one of the great heroes in the history of the great State of Louisiana.
